We continuously employ a holistic and participatory approach in planning and programming activities to ensure coherence of all our Research Development and Extension (RDE) undertakings. In this approach, we involved the various working groups of the consortium such as the Regional Research and Development Group (RRDG), Regional Technology Transfer Group (RTTG), Regional Knowledge Management Group (KMG), technical experts as well as our clienteles.
We monitor and evaluate our projects and activities through the following strategies: a) monitoring the agency in-house research reviews of the various CMAs; b) conduct of commodity reviews and a regional symposium; c) field visits; d) submission of research status reports by the CMAs. The establishments of FITS Centers is now under the supervision of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI)–Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan. This are being monitored through field monitoring and the use of Information Communication Technology (ICT). Technologies generated during the symposium was being assessed using the Technology Assessment Protocol (TAP).
In the commodity reviews and regional symposium, we tap the expertise of the consortium’s pool of experts, PCAARRD and other consortia. We also share our experts with other consortia and the Regional Development Council.
Further, field monitoring is an important activity of the consortium. We continuously monitor the project implementation in relation to agreed schedules, use of inputs, infrastructure, and services by project beneficiaries. This strategy helps us respond to the different feedbacks and actual problems that arose in the field. This led us strengthened our project designs and implementation and to stimulate partnership with project stakeholders.
Moreover, we conducted technology assessment on the matured technologies being disseminated and piloted by our member-agencies and adopted by our clients. This activity was part of our strategy in technology evaluation. Through this, we were able to assess the technologies in relation to social, technical, environment, economic, and political aspect as well as the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and utilization.
