Ilocos Norte bamboo industry to get boost

IT is all systems go for Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) to boost the bamboo industry in Ilocos Norte through its College of Agriculture, Food and Sustainable Development (CAFSD) and Research Directorate.

Daniel Tapaoan Jr., MMSU information officer, said the university will help advance the bamboo industry starting this year and strengthen the system of bamboo production in the province.

Tapaoan said MMSU was granted an initial amount of P1.2 million from the Department of Agriculture (DA) to implement this research for development (R4D) project.

He said the certificate of award for the project — to be implemented by a group of researchers from the university's CAFSD — was received by Dr. Charlie Batin in an awarding ceremony held at Teatro Ilocandia on Dec. 15, 2021.Read more>>>
