Call for Papers/Entries for the Regional Graduate Student Research Congress

November 24, 2021

Rationale

Over the years, the development of agriculture and fisheries including the appropriate environmental management has been considered as the main concern of local, regional, and national institutions. These are supported by national agencies whose primary role is to enhance the development of technologies and innovations together with the documentation of best practices to improve communities and the productivity and profitability of people in a sustainable manner.

One of the agencies involved in this important work is a network of state universities and colleges (SUCs) in the different regions of the country. This network support initiatives of SUCs in various fields particularly in education, research, and extension for development programs. Being in the realm of academic research and extension, SUCs provide the avenue for competency development for its staff at the same time its clientele, whose work are also exemplary contributory to local and regional development.

Today, the Ilocos Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (ILAARRDEC) as one of the dynamic consortia in Ilocos Region covering research, development and extension in agriculture, aquatic, and natural resources is looking at the importance of academic researches by graduate students. This is an opportunity given to students to showcase and present their research outputs/findings as well as encourage academic discourse and intellectual exchange for further development.

The ILAARRDEC Regional Graduate Student Research Congress is also an initiative of the consortium to enable  graduate students to present their thesis/dissertation in  scientific conferences or publish in research journals as stipulated in CHED Memorandum Circular No. 15, Series of 2019. The consortium will likewise ensure that entries will undergo refereeing by the panel of evaluators as initial step towards their submission for publication.

The Research Congress will be conducted on December 10, 2021, via virtual platform under the overall coordination of ILAARRDEC and the Mariano Marcos State University, being the consortium’s base institution.
